Eric's maternal grandfather died early this morning.

He was mowing the lawn and fell and hit his head on concrete.  They took him to the hospital, but his brain was bleeding and he died around 4a.m.

Despite the language barrier, he was always kind to me.  I like to think he was fond of me, and that he'll be there in spirit when I marry his grandson.

I weep that he won't be there in person.  I weep that I'll never get the chance to know him better.  I weep that my children will never meet him.  I weep for Eric and his mother and his family.  Life is so fragile.  I didn't need two reminders.
